The following hair care remedies may not work for everyone. They should be used at your own risk.
1. PROTEIN CONDITIONER
Mix a dollop of mayonnaise (protein and conditioning) with an egg (protein) and apply to hair. Twist hair up on head and put on a shower cap so the heat speeds up the penetration. Leave on as long as desired, then rinse in cool or tepid water. Hot water will cook the egg, making it nearly impossible to get out!
** I really like this. I left it on for almost an hour one day, and it worked great! I had to shampoo my hair gently to get rid of the greasy mayonnaise, and then conditioned with my regular conditioner. It revitalized my hair, added softness, and shine! Big improvement!
2. HONEY HAIR SHINE
Stir 1 teaspoon liquid honey into 4 cups of warm water. After shampooing, pour mixture thru hair. Do not rinse out. Dry as usual.
** This one is supposed to add great softness and shine to hair.
3. SPRAY-ON CONDITIONER
Here is a quick way to make spray-on conditioner and it works just as well as store-bought brands. Simply mix 1 part of your favorite conditioner with five parts water in an empty spray bottle. Shake before using to mix. Tangles are gone and so is the frizz!
** I like this and use it nearly every day. I especially like to spray it in after washing my hair before I even attempt to comb it. This really helps eliminate tangles so you don't break wet hair as you comb.
4. VARIATIONS TO PROTEIN DEEP CONDITIONER
I ran out of mayonnaise just when I wanted to use that deep conditioner. So instead I used olive oil mixed with an egg. I found it worked even better than the mayonnaise! For those of you with jojoba or other oil, you may want to try that with the egg for protein. I use two eggs for my hair, and mix them well before adding the mayonnaise or olive oil. Something I want to try next time is a small amount of liquid honey for softness and shine. It's sticky, but I've heard it works wonders in a deep conditioning treatment. I haven't tried this yet, but after rinsing out the deep conditioner, following with a rinse of apple cider vinegar (1 teaspoon to a litre of water) is supposed to seal in the conditioning and add softness and shine!
5. A BUILD-UP REMOVER
Use your regular shampoo, and mix 2-3 table spoons of it with the same amount of baking soda. Use more for longer hair, but keep the balance even. Mix in a small bowl, apply like regular shampoo and rinse.
** I use this whenever I had a build up of too much styling product, or when my hair got really dirty. Use this gently, and the baking soda is abrasive. Don't rub too hard! I followed with conditioner, letting the conditioner soak into my hair under a shower cap for a bit before rinsing.

SOAPWORT HERBAL SHAMPOO
This is a very fragrant and stimulating for your scalp. It prevents dandruff and promotes hair growth.
Take 1 cup of each of the following:
Nettle
Spearmint
Rosemary (use chamomile for lighter hair)
Boil and let reduce in 2 cups water. Do not use metal pans....try a glass coffee pot or a vision clear glass pan.
Let steep for at least 2 hours...strain and the liquid left will be very dark brown. Mix these with the following shampoo recipe:
Add 2 handfuls of soapwort to the glass pan and pour over it 1-1 1/2 cups water. Bring this to a boil and lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Cover it and let it steep until cool. Strain into a bottle that closes tightly.
When you add the nettle, rosemary, and spearmint, let it infuse overnight. Shake before using. This won't give you a head full of suds as commercial ones will but the cleansing is undeniable. Soapwort is nothing more that Wild Sweet William.
NATURAL CONDITIONERS
DRY HAIR:
1/2 banana
1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup honey
5 drops coconut oil
Mix ingredients in a blender to form a rich cream. Massage mix into scalp and hair, working through to the ends. Cover your head with plastic wrap and place a hot, wet towel over that. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse and lather up with a moisturizing shampoo.
DULL HAIR:
Juice from 1/2 lemon
1/4 papaya, peeled
1 can seltzer or club soda
Blend lemon juice and papaya together, massage into hair. For extra shine, leave on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse with seltzer or club soda.
FINE/LIMP HAIR:
3 cups brewed sage tea at room temperature
(available at health food stores)
Shampoo hair as usual and rinse clean. Before getting out of the shower, pur sage tea over scalp and work through hair. For maximum body, allow to "brew" for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing.
PROTEIN HAIR SMOOTHIE
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup coconut or sunflower oil
1/4 cup whole milk
4 T. aloe vera gel
4 fresh strawberries
Pour all ingredients in a blender. Apply mixture to towel-dried hair, beginning at roots and combing through to ends. Place shower cap or warm towel over hair for 15 to 30 minutes. The eggs will coat the hair shaft, making it look thicker and healthier. The milk cleanses your hair while the oil, aloe, and strawberries moisturize and help boost shine. You may need to shampoo twice until water runs clear.
ALL-NATURAL MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER

Mix in 2 drops of Rosemary oil into the bottle and let it sit for 24 hours. After you shampoo, pour mixture over head and rinse. Follow with regular conditioner. This will leave hair soft, shiny and stronger. It won't make hair grow any faster but it will clear follicles to allow hair to grow.
SCALP SHAMPOO FOR HAIR GROWTH
3 Cups water
1/2 Cup lavendar castile soap
1 Tablespoon each of basil, lavender, and rosemary
Bring water to a boil, then turn off heat and add each herb. Cover pot and steep for at least one hour. Strain off herbs (use a pasta strainer, cheesecloth, or coffee filter). Combine remaining water with lavender soap.
This shampoo can be drying to hair ends and should only be used on the scalp. It works by removing the scalp's oil residue that blocks hair follicles from optimal growth.

Green tea (protects against UVB rays)
Jojoba oil (natural sunscreen)
Cocoa Butter (emollient)
Vitamin E (as a preservative)
Coconut oil (emollient)
Essential Oil (scent)

Boil water for the green tea separately and allow tea to steep.
Combine all ingredients (except essential oil) in saucepan and bring to boil. Take off heat and let cool, then add some of the steeped green tea and stir.
Pour mixture into glass or plastic containers. Add a few drops of essential oil.
